The best beignets are made fresh daily so they’re always hot and crispy on the outside with a soft, pillowy inside. This New Orleans treat is a favorite of Princess Tiana and is more than just your average treat.

Follow this step by step guide to make the light and airy treats at home in your own kitchen. With just the right amount of sweetness, they’re sure to be a hit!

And if you’re heading to Disney World in Orlando or Disneyland in Anaheim read on to find out where to get some Mickey Mouse beignets while visiting the Disney Parks!

What is the history of beignets?

“Beignet” is the French word for “puff pastry doughnut.” They are made with fried choux dough which creates a light and airy texture.

Beignets are a type of pastry made from deep-fried dough that is covered in powdered sugar, confectioner’s sugar or cane syrup. They are served hot and fresh and often eaten for breakfast alongside coffee or tea.

The first use of beignets in America was in 1806 when they were brought to Louisiana by Marie Antoine Careme, chef to Napoleon Bonaparte III. The recipe spread all over New Orleans where it became popular among people who had access to sugar cane plantations or even those who grew their own crops like coffee beans.

It’s unclear how exactly this recipe made its way onto menus at Disneyland but we can’t wait for you to try them out for yourself!

Where are the best places to find Disneyland beignets?

When visiting Disneyland, if you want delicious, authentic Disney-made beignets then head over to Café Orleans located near the entrance of New Orleans Square.

The prices are slightly higher than other snacks throughout Disneyland but it’s well worth it because these taste amazing! You can buy them for about $10 for six pieces of their beignet doughnuts with powdered sugar on top.

It’s worth noting that this isn’t an easy find – you’ll have to walk past more popular attractions like the Pirates of the Caribbean and Haunted Mansion to find them, but that just makes them an even sweeter find!
