Celebrate Disney’s Jungle Cruise live action movie with this Backside of Water Milkshake. There are many different milkshake recipes out there, but everything tastes better with a Disney twist, right? This easy milkshake recipe has a simple list of ingredients and it’s perfect for movie night.
When Disney World announced that they are bringing a new treat to the Magic Kingdom, I just had to create my own version for our Jungle Cruise movie night!
The Joke Behind the Backside of Water
If you’ve ever been on the Adventureland’s Jungle Cruise attraction in the Magic Kingdom, you know that the best part isn’t the animatronic animals or lush green plants, but the hilarious cast members.
The Jungle Cruise skippers are tasked with not only guiding the three week long tour, but entertaining the passengers. They have perfected the Dad joke in a way that makes you want to ride the funny ride over and over again no matter how many times you’ve visited Walt Disney World.
Over the years the punny jokes have changed, but one has stood the test of time and that’s the infamous line, “Ladies and gentleman, the backside of water.” So it only makes sense that we celebrate the eighth wonder of the world with the release of the newest Disney movie, based on an attraction, doesn’t it?
Disney’s Jungle Cruise Movie
There are two ways to watch the newest Disney live action movie, The Jungle Cruise. You can either purchase tickets to see the movie in theaters or pay for premium access to watch the flick on Disney+.
Either wat it’s nice to finally see Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson and Emily Blunt in the movie based on the Disney attraction after the movie was delayed.
A New Treat at the Magic Kingdom
What’s the first thing you think of when you hear milkshake? If you’re like most people, you think of a delicious, cold treat that is sure to cool down your day! Perfect for summer or any time you want a little reminder of Disney at home, this milkshake recipe takes only 10 minutes to whip up a sweet treat for your family.
The Disney World version is available at the Sunshine Tree Terrace in the Magic Kingdom Park. According to the My Disney Experience app, the float consists of cotton candy and vanilla soft serve, Sprite, and a blue sour belt.
Of course, most people don’t have a soft-serve machine in their home, so I adjusted the recipe a bit so you can enjoy this fan favorite right at home. All you’ll need are five ingredients and a blender to make this easy Disney ice cream treat.
Backside of Water Milkshake Recipe
- Vanilla ice cream
- Blue food coloring
- Blue raspberry sour belt
- Whipped cream
If you want to add some flavor to the vanilla milkshake, substitute any blue drink mix or Jello powder mix for the blue food coloring. Start with 2-3 tablespoons of a blue raspberry lemonade drink mix powder, then add to taste.
First, add 3 scoops of vanilla ice cream to blender. Then measure and add ¾ cup of milk. If you prefer a thicker milkshake, use 1/2c. to start adding milk until you reach the right consistency.
Next, add blue food coloring to make the desired color of blue. For one serving, I used 10 drops for a light blue water color.
Mix in the blender until the mixture is smooth and creamy.
Pour the milkshake into your favorite cup and add whipped cream topping to the top.
Garnish your milkshake with a piece of blue raspberry sour belt, making it a bit wavy like, you guessed it, the backside of water!
I hope you and your family enjoy this delicious Backside of Water Milkshake recipe. If you can’t get enough Jungle Cruise, check out these fun activities and crafts for even more Disney fun!
