How to Make a Mickey Mouse Christmas Wreath
Here is what you will need to make this beautiful Mickey Mouse buffalo check wreath. You can use black and white buffalo plaid for your Christmas wreath or stick to the traditional red buffalo plaid wreath.
- One 12×12 sheet of Chipboard
- Floral wire
- Buffalo plaid heat vinyl
- Buffalo plaid poinsettia or other buffalo plaid flower picks
- Mickey shape PDF
- Two large faux pine boughs- fir boughs also work well, as does holly.
- Floral tape
- Masking tape
- Strong grip mat
- Light grip mat
- Cricut EasyPress or Easy Press Mini
- Cricut Maker
- Deep cut blade
- 1 sheet Parchment paper
- Wire cutters
- Hot glue gun & glue
Download the Mickey shape cut file and upload it to Cricut Joy Design Space. Follow the prompts to cut the design from the vinyl and then the chipboard.
Using tape, attach the chipboard to the strong grip mat. Do the same for the vinyl with the light grip mat.
Remove the extra portions of vinyl from the design and throw them out.
Place the buffalo plaid heat vinyl design on the Mickey shaped chipboard, then carefully use the heat press to attach the vinyl to the chipboard.
Allow the chipboard to cool for one to two minutes before removing the plastic protective sheet from the vinyl.
Place the two large faux pine boughs stems end to end with the ends overlapping about 1-2 inches. Use the floral tape to attach them together.
Use the buffalo check poinsettia or buffalo plaid floral picks to cover where the two artificial pine boughs are joined and secure the poinsettia in place with the wire and hot glue gun.
Place the Mickey silhouette face down and hot glue two 6 inch pieces of floral wire to the back of it, about 1 inch from the bottom of the silhouette.
Place the Mickey shape in between the pine tree boughs and the poinsettia and use the floral wires on the silhouette to attach it to the pine boughs. Secure it with hot glue if like.
Place your decoration on the mantle or add a hangar and affix it to your door.
There you have it- a simple Mickey inspired holiday decoration that you can easily make at home yourself.
